Tire scuffing on new asphalt is completely normal, especially if the surface was laid during warmer weather. This often occurs when vehicles perform stationary power-steering turns — where the wheels pivot without the car moving — creating light surface marks.

There’s no need to panic. In most cases:

• Light scuffs will fade over time as the surface cures and weathers.
• Further traffic often helps blend the marks naturally into the surface.
• More noticeable scuffs can be easily repaired with a gentle reheat and tamping down, leaving no long-term damage.

Protect the Surface

• Spread supplied whitewashed sand, especially in turning areas.
• Reapply sand if traffic is heavy.

Manage Vehicles & Loads

• Avoid turning wheels while stationary.
• Don’t place heavy point loads directly on asphalt—use timber or load-spreading boards.
• Avoid sudden stops or sharp turns with heavy vehicles.

Traffic Use

• Light, steady traffic helps compact the surface.
•  Do not drive overweight vehicles on asphalt that has not been specified and designed for their weight – if you have only specified for light vehicles, expect heavy vehicles, plant, or equipment, to damage your asphalt regardless of age

Seasonal Awareness

• Asphalt hardens over time; allow at least one summer to fully cure.
• Surfaces may be pliable in the first summer, so watch for scuffing.

Spills & Damage

• Contact your supplier immediately if oils or chemicals spill.
• Monitor turning areas and reapply sand as needed.

Warranty Note

• Damage from misuse (stationary turning, heavy point loads, sharp stops, overweight vehicles) is not covered.
